A very Southern gardeners tradition is sharing plants!
This fabulous towering ginger or butterfly lily came to my garden from fellow gardener and 19th Century home dweller Ruth Ellen Calhoun of Natchez Mississippi.
This example towers over my garden, emulating the towering gentility of her former mistress and gardener.
🌱
I believe the proper name for this is Hedychium Ayo
Ruth Ellen called it a yellow ginger.
@jeffersonmansell please give this great Southern lady my love.
