Letter From Board President

Dear Members,

Thank you for being a member of the Southern Garden History Society. We appreciate your support and dedication to our mission. I sincerely hope you will renew your membership during our 2025 annual membership renewal campaign.

This year we will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America at our next Annual Meeting in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Your membership includes the opportunity to register for this meeting to be held April 10-12, 2026. Please come join the Celebration!

Please check out our webpage for membership benefits, upcoming events and interesting content. I especially recommend the new “Gardens” page that includes delightful verbal sketches of selected garden gems across the South. The attendant map of these gardens will help you plan your next Garden Tour adventure!

The launch of the Randy Harelson Scholarship Fund last year was a huge success and we quickly met our initial funding goal of $60,000. To help build further financial stability for the fund, we have established a new goal of $100,000. I hope you will all consider a contribution to the RHSF when renewing your membership. Thank you!

Yep, its hot outside! And I’m guessing a large number of you are still out in your gardens in the early mornings and late afternoons. Gardening in the summer south can be a challenge, but it really is a great joy as well!

Let’s compare notes about our gardens the next time we gather together. Thank you for your support and Happy Gardening!
Warm Regards,

Derek Wade
President, SGHS
