The spring 2025 issue of Magnolia features an in-depth review by SGHS board members Jessica Russell Hilton, Adam Martin, and Eric Jackson of the Society’s recent annual meeting in Mobile, Alabama. This year’s award recipients for the Society’s undergraduate and James R. Cothran scholarships and for two young professionals were highlighted. This issue includes the Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden in Bishopville, South Carolina, a recent posting on the SGHS “Gardens” page, which continues to highlight significant gardens throughout the South at: www.southerngardenhistory.org/
Gail Collmann Griffin’s decision to step down as SGHS treasurer after nearly twenty years inspired a profile of her many contributions to the Society, which included the development of an index for Magnolia. A remembrance of C. Allan Brown reviews his life of significant garden history research and publications.
