Cornelia Oberlander, pioneering landscape architect and visionary, dies at 99 years. Although her long career was centered in Canada, Oberlander was an inspirational environmentalist for the entire northern hemisphere. Decades before it was mainstream thinking, she was designing with native and local plants, as well as touting the use of environmentally sound landscape practices. Like our Savannah, Georgia native, Clermont Lee, Oberlander was a leader in a male-dominated field. We hold a debt to her influence into the 21st century.
